The Yorkshire Shepherdess set to make guest appearance at The Game Fair

The Game Fair is set to welcome hugely popular TV star and cookbook author Amanda Owen, known as The Yorkshire Shepherdess, alongside chef James Martin and singer JB Gill as part of the event’s celebrity foodie line-up. She will be creating bespoke menus, giving cookery demos and meet-and-greets as well as giving talks on stage to reveal her family recipes and anecdotes about food and farming.

As the longest-running largest countryside festival in Britain, The Game Fair will attract 120,000 visitors when it returns to Ragley Hall in Warwickshire from Friday 29 July to Sunday 31 July 2022.

Following the release of her first cookery book Celebrating the Seasons packed with wholesome family recipes, the mother-of-nine has created a special breakfast menu for the Friday and Saturday of The Game Fair where visitors with Gourmet tickets can begin their day with a meet-and-greet farmhouse breakfast in The Flying Pig. The Gourmet ticket also includes Gourmet Gathering with chef James Martin, a half pint at Guy Ritchie’s Gritchie bar and ice cream sundae from Salcombe Dairy.

On the Sunday of The Game Fair, visitors with Enclosure package tickets will be treated to Amanda’s hearty two-course lunch which includes traditional roast lamb with all the trimmings. As well as overseeing delivery of her bespoke menu, Amanda will spend time mingling and chatting with diners out front.

Amanda will also appear each day in the Game Fair Theatre, on stage in front of visitors in a live chat show style. She will talk about her life as a remote hill farmer, family recipes and her thoughts on modern food production. In addition, she will appear in the Cookery Theatre giving demos of her recipes alongside top chefs and personalities. She will also be selling copies of her recipe book Celebrating The Seasons.

Amanda commented: “This will be my first time at The Game Fair and it comes at a time when food awareness and provenance is relevant on so many levels. I was keen to attend and meet chefs, guests and visitors alike as I think these gatherings offer an opportunity to have open and frank discussions on current topical issues – namely the rising cost of food. People are being overwhelmed with information and if you are going to eat meat, then you need to have facts in front of you. I would love to be able to dispel some myths and misconceptions about what we are eating. So, if me appearing at The Game Fair can help educate a few visitors then I am all for it.”

The Game Fair’s managing director James Gower added: “We are over the moon to share the news that Amanda will be joining us at The Game Fair this Summer. Amanda’s work as The Yorkshire Shepherdess has shared the realities, both good and challenging, of rural life with a wider audience and we can’t wait to welcome her to our celebration of the British countryside. I’m particularly looking forward to sampling her Sunday lunch and breakfast recipes and I’m sure our visitors will feel the same way.”
