THE FIRST EVER ‘GOALS ALOUD’ FOOTBALL PODCAST FESTIVAL ANNOUNCED

Goals Aloud is a celebration of the very best football podcasts from the UK and beyond. Taking place across London in June & July, the festival will present some of the world’s favourite football-themed shows in a live environment, many of them for the very first time.

Expect very special guests, expert analysis, one-off shows and unrepeatable stories at a variety of venues across the city this summer.

Undoubtedly the biggest show to take the stage will be The Guardian Football Weekly which is the most popular football podcast in the world and will run for two nights at Hackney Empire. Each show will feature the podcast’s unique take on the world of football – plus, audience interaction, special guests and at least 2 anecdotes you haven’t heard on the podcast before.

Undr the Cosh is a podcast with ex and current footballers presented by Jon ‘the Beast’ Parkin, Chris ‘ Browny’ Brown and award-winning writer Chris Brown and has fast become one of the UK’s most popular shows, featuring in the UK Sports Top 10 Podcast Chart throughout 2019-2022. The lads will be joined at EartH in Hackney by a character from the world of football to uncover the good, the bad and the downright ugly parts of their careers and football, in general.

Also appearing at EartH, all the way from Liverpool will be The Anfield Wrap.

It’s not just a podcast, it’s an enormous show, a communal party, a civic celebration and promises to be one of the liveliest shows at the festival.

From slightly further afield (Spain to be precise) comes one of the most respected journalists in the game in the shape of Graham Hunter’s Big Interview Live. Since launching in 2015, Graham has welcomed over 130 high-profile guests onto the show, from Virgil van Dijk to Ilkay Gundogan, Jurgen Klopp to Michael Laudrup so snap up your tickets now as this show promises another huge name guest.

For the very first time, Football Clichés will be taking to the stage in a live venue, featuring all the usual microscopic pseudoanalysis of the podcast but with an extra visual dimension. How many words are there for the act of scoring a goal? Why does football love the words “adjudge” and “aplomb” when nobody else still uses them? What’s the greatest sound the game has ever produced?

Join the Clichés panel of Adam Hurrey, Charlie Eccleshare and David Walker for a voyage into modern football’s many idiosyncrasies.

Another podcast making its live debut will be The Brazilian Shirt Name Podcast with Tim Vickery taking the title for ‘longest trip’ as he’ll be coming all the way from South America. The Legendinho and The Nightwatchman, BBC 5 Live’s Dotun Adebayo look at the world through the prism of football. Coming to Soho in June, they will dissect an iconic football match, looking at the characters involved, the goals scored as well as the news, fashion and music of the time.

Set Piece Menu Live returns this summer at 21 Soho The multi award-nominated pod has laid dormant for too long, so instead of waiting for more virtual content, why not join the boys for some hot soccer chat… LIVE!!! Featuring Rory Smith, Steven Wyeth and Hugh Ferris, and a special guest joining them on stage!
