Shake Shack Teams Up with Hoppers to Cook Up One-off Creations

Spice it up! Shake Shack and Hoppers have joined forces to bring you two new menu items: The Lankan Shack and Chilli Cheese Fries. The creations are the perfect fusion of the two brands’ signature styles and were born from a mutual love of unique flavours and quality ingredients.

The special menu will be available in limited quantities on Friday, 3rd December & Saturday, 4th December from 12PM only at the Covent Garden Shack. All proceeds will be donated to The Felix Project, a London-based charity fighting food waste and hunger. The partnership highlights Shake Shack’s mission to Stand for Something Good®, from its commitment to supporting and investing in local communities.

Karan Gokani, Director of Hoppers comments: “Mark and I have been discussing a collab burger for the past three years. We wanted to create a burger that represented both our brands but was, at the same time, much more than the sum of its parts. We think we’ve nailed it and have a burger that’s got everything a beautiful Shake Shack burger should have, along with the spice, curry and punchy flavours you’d expect from the Sri Lankan flavours at Hoppers.”

On the Lankan Shack: “We’ve tried to take the elements of a traditional burger and add a unique Hoppers spin to them – think bright red onions pickled in spiced coconut vinegar; coriander and green chilli mayo to replace a burger sauce; a Sri Lankan mustard cream sauce instead of mustard, and a rich braised short rib curry to complement the flavours and texture of the Shack cheeseburger.”

On the Chilli Cheese Fries: “Our fries were inspired by one of my favourite dishes at Hoppers, the chilli cheese dosa, a crisp rice and lentil crepe topped with cheese and green chillies. I’ve eaten my bodyweight in these while testing and shooting the recipe and have no doubt they are the best fries I have ever tasted!”

Mark Rosati, Culinary Director of Shake Shack, thinks back to the first time he experienced Hoppers: “I had the privilege to get to know Karan soon after we opened our first Shack in London, and still remember my first trip to Hoppers and trying their delicious Sri Lankan and South Indian cuisine. Ever since then, we’ve been dreaming of the opportunity to work together. After so many years, we are excited to have created something delicious and unique with our friends at Hoppers, and we can’t wait for our London fans to try it!”
