Selina Camden and its plant-based restaurant Powerplant have both opened opposite the Roundhouse!

Selina, the experience-led hospitality group for the modern nomadic traveller, has today opened its fifth unique property in the UK with the launch of Selina Camden in the heart of London’s vibrant music scene, alongside the opening of its inaugural plant-based restaurant, Powerplant.

Positioned directly opposite The Roundhouse, Selina Camden is a key hub for the buzzing music scene when the industry opens back up next month. It is ideal for intimate events, after-parties, and post-gig stays for artists and gig-goers alike, as well as for those wanting a stylish base from which to explore London.

The quirky hotel uses bold colours and patterns to reflect the eclectic location, with historical and music-inspired touches around the hotel, from album artwork on the walls to its very own secluded lobby record station to listen to your favourite tracks.

“We’re thrilled to finally open and bring our unique Selina concept to such a thriving and bohemian London neighbourhood that’s bursting with culture and style,” said Rafael Museri, CEO & Co-Founder of Selina. “With a range of striking rooms and an amazing plant-based restaurant, we can’t wait to become firmly embedded in the local community and welcome everyone to the perfect London crash pad and eatery for tourists and Londoners alike.”

ROOMS

Designed in collaboration with Selina’s workshop team to reflect Camden’s creative spirit, rooms were furnished using materials representing and embracing the community. Thirty stylish rooms are available with rates starting from just £119, many of which boast impressive views across the city. Selina Camden guests can choose from a range of accommodation options, including a corner suite, a loft room, a family room, and a terrace suite with views of both the London skyline and the Roundhouse itself. As restrictions ease, dorm rooms will also offer groups of friends the perfect London accommodation.

SOCIAL SPACES

Powerplant, Selina’s first outpost of its new restaurant brand, is set to become a firm London favourite, serving a range of innovative, delicious plant-based dishes that are anything but boring. The brand will soon be expanding globally, with future openings in the pipeline tipped for Washington DC and Lisbon.

Powerplant’s concept is to team up with local chefs in every destination to deliver a unique and authentic culinary experience to every restaurant. Powerplant creator and VP, Global Brands & Creative of Selina, Ariel Levinsohn, and Executive Chef Moran Etedgi have brought on Harj Ram as Powerplant Camden’s Head Chef.

Ram brings a plant-based pedigree formed throughout a cooking career that spans Hackney favourite Dalston Superstore, as well as Head Chef at Cardiff’s first all-vegan restaurant Anna Loka, at Bhuti in Richmond, and Fulham’s Eat My Grass.

“Apart from the obvious environmental impact and health benefits of a plant-based diet, what Powerplant aims to show is that a plant-based culinary experience is as exciting as any non-plant-based restaurant and more. Combined with specially curated fun and alternative cultural programming from London’s creatives, we are very excited to bring this concept to life in Camden and later this year to Europe and the US,” said Ariel Levinsohn, Selina Global Brands & Creative.

Breakfast lovers will delight in Powerplant’s range of breakfast bowls, as well as the likes of the Falafel Waffle served with fresh tomato, fermented turnip aubergine and cucumbers, mango curry dressing, onions, tahini, and micro herbs. A “Bacon” Bap made with streaky “bacon,” tomato, lettuce, rosti and brunch sauce, and various Breakfast ‘Eggs’ options, including Huevos Rancheros made with silky tofu, smoky tomato sauce, avocado, Padrón peppers, pickled onions, coriander, and crispy plantain.

Lunch and dinner dishes include a plant-based Bibimbap and Aubergine Tartare made with grilled aubergine, tahini, pistachio, rose petals, “feta,” micro herbs, olive oil, lemon, and sea salt served with Naan. Also on the menu is Grilled Watermelon served with “feta,” oregano, and pickled onions, Berber Jackfruit served with tahini and kale-slaw in a soft Yemen pancake or the signature Powerplant Burger.
