JOIN THE JUBILEE STREET PARTY AT 17&CENTRAL

17&Central is extending the street party into the shopping centre and inviting guests to join them for an amazing four days of Jubilee celebrations. The royal extravaganza will take place from Thursday 2 June – Sunday 5 June and includes face painting, a crown making workshop, Jubilee pop-up stalls, a royal selfie corner and music from DJ Carmen and pupils from Big Creative Academy.

The fun starts on 2 June with crown-making workshops for children (and crafty adults) looking to create something special (and wearable) for the Jubilee. Located in the centre court area near TK Maxx, the workshops are free of charge and will run from 12pm-4pm on both 2 and 3 June.

Students from Big Creative Academy will also be bringing music to the shopping centre on 2 and 3 June and will be playing a selection of original songs and covers.
Award-winning, international female DJ, Carmen London will be hitting the decks on Saturday 4 June from 1pm – 6pm and Sunday 5 June from 11am – 4pm, entertaining the crowds and mixing up some classic British anthems.
“I’m planning to take people on a journey of well-known British songs from the 60s right up to 2022,” says Carmen, who was born and raised in South London. “I’ll be playing songs that people can sing and dance to, and maybe some that they’ve forgotten about.

“I’m really excited about DJing at 17&Central in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and am looking forward to taking people on journey, decade by decade of all the top British hits.”

Sunday 5 June is all about patriotic face painting and 17&Central’s amazing face painter will be on hand from 12pm-4pm by the centre court area near TK Maxx to bring a smile (and a flag) to shoppers’ faces. The Best of British face painting is free of charge, but the shopping centre will be accepting donations for its Charity of the Year, PL84U AL SUFFA.

The Waltham Forest-based organisation provides an amazing range of services for local people of all ages, including a food bank, hot meals, recreational facilities, companionship and haircuts, sleeping bags, clothes and warm kits for the area’s homeless.

Enterprising pupils from a local school, have been offered a stall in the shopping centre free of charge on 5 June as part of 17&Central’s community initiative. Students from Whitefield Academy Trust will be selling high-quality, handmade soaps and candles through its KAHAND project. KAHAND, which was named after its young founders aims to open up the world for young people with autism, helping them to thrive and succeed. The young entrepreneurs run all aspects of the business, from production and marketing to sales and delivery.
Using pure ingredients, KAHAND produces small batches of handmade soaps and candles to benefit the mind and body. Its unique process bases the scents and colours of the products on the moods and feelings of the young people who have made them. Each soap has been named to reflect the emotions experienced in the production process, e.g. peacefulness, happiness, friendship and love.
And for those wanting to take advantage of the ultimate photo opportunity, there’s a royal selfie corner with a stunning Union Jack backdrop, hand painted by members of the Wood Green community.

Gwendolyne Lobo, Marketing Manager for 17&Central, commented: “We’re so excited for our Jubilee celebrations. The idea was to extend the street party into the shopping centre and offer activities which would appeal to all ages. With so much going on over the four days, I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be the biggest party in town!”
