GALLIARD CEO DON O’SULLIVAN TO STEP DOWN

Galliard Homes Chief Executive Officer Don O’Sullivan will stepping down as CEO and is leaving the business at the end of March 2022 to seek new challenges elsewhere. Stephen Conway, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Galliard Homes will be resuming the role of CEO and Darren Maguire will be appointed to the board of Galliard Homes as the new Managing Director of Galliard Construction.

Don O’ Sullivan joined Galliard Homes in April 2001 as Contracts Manager and over the last 21 years has been promoted to first Construction Director, then Managing Director and latterly CEO.

Having worked in the construction industry for over 30 years Darren Maguire has worked with some of the leading developers and contactors in Ireland, the United States and in the UK since 2013. His experience is as broad as it is diverse having delivered a wide range of projects from large scale residential schemes to hotels, shopping centres and bank headquarters. Joining Galliard in May 2014 as a Contracts Manager and moving to Construction Director in 2017 Darren has overseen some of the group’s most prestigious developments to date from Harbour Central in Docklands to the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in Whitehall.

Amanda Dijk has been promoted to the position of Galliard Homes Finance Director. Amanda is a chartered accountant by training having received an LLB in law from Cardiff University. Her career has seen her work practice followed by a period conducting Sarbanes-Oxley audits before taking up a position at the Old Vic theatre. Amanda joined Galliard Homes in 2016 as the Group Financial Controller after 9 years as Director of Finance at London City Airport, playing a part in the successful sale of the airport for £2 billion.

Stephen Conway, Executive Chairman of Galliard Homes says: “The Galliard of today is unrecognisable from the Galliard of 21 years ago and that is, in large part, due to Don’s dynamism and will be his legacy. I will be forever grateful to him for the commitment and energy he has given to our business and we wish him well for the future. I welcome Darren Maguire to his new role on the board of directors and with the recent promotion of Amanda Dijk to the position of Finance Director, Amanda was previously FD at London City Airport, we have a strong senior team to take us forward to the next chapter of the Galliard story.”

Don O’ Sullivan, CEO of Galliard Homes says: “Working with Stephen Conway for 21 years has been an extraordinary privilege, he is a skillful entrepreneur, with superlative business instinct; and his kind heart is never far from the surface. I wish Stephen and the Conway family every success in the bright Galliard future.”

Darren Maguire, Construction Director at Galliard says: “I am pleased to be joining the board of directors and consolidating my role as the new Managing Director of construction for the business. Working with joint venture partners, Galliard Homes are starting construction on a number of major flagship developments in 2022 and I look forward to the challenge of delivering these key projects for the group.”

Stephen Conway says: “I would like to congratulate Darren Maguire on his new role as Managing Director of Galliard Construction. Darren joined Galliard in 2014 and over the past seven and a half years has taken on more and more responsibility including his appointment as Construction Director in August 2017. Darren is the obvious successor to Don O’ Sullivan on all group matters concerning construction, including architectural services and aftercare for which he will have full responsibility. I am very excited by his appointment to the board of Galliard Homes and look forward to Darren leading this crucial part of our business. I am certain he will bring Galliard further success.”

Founded in 1992, Galliard is one of London’s largest developers. The group has over 300 staff and a £3.44 billion (GDV) development portfolio currently under construction, including nearly 6,392 homes, with some 1,208 homes currently being marketed for sale, and 0.76 million sq. ft. of consented commercial space. Through strategic joint venture partnerships Galliard Homes has steadily moved into other key cities throughout the UK including Birmingham, Bath and Bristol.

Galliard Homes has recently announced a partnership with Midlands based property developer Wavensmere Homes to deliver £300 million (GDV) of new development providing almost 850 new homes, comprised of two new residential-led schemes, Belgrave Village in Birmingham and Barrelsman’s Point, the regeneration of the HMS Ganges Naval facility in Shotley near Ipswich.

Belgrave Village in central Birmingham is a 12-acre development designed by Chetwoods Architects which will create a new urban village of 438 newly built homes with construction anticipated to start in Q1 2022 with an estimated three year build programme.

With a masterplan by Clague Architects, Barrelman’s Point, on the Shotley Peninsula, near Ipswich and London, is surrounded by water on three sides and will transform the historic HMS Ganges Naval facility into a new 60-acre waterside development providing 400 newly built and converted homes, 9,359 square metres of commercial/leisure premises and the restoration of several designated Royal Navy heritage assets and buildings. Construction of Barrelman’s Point is anticipated to start in Q1 2022 with an estimated 4-5 year phased build programme.
