First statue of a woman – suffragist leader Millicent Fawcett to be unveiled in Parliament Square

On Tuesday 24 April The Mayor Of London will be unveiling the first statue of a woman – suffragist leader Millicent Fawcett – in Parliament Square. Join me there to help make history.

This statue is special. It will be the first ever statue of a woman to stand in this famous square. And it’s been created by Turner Prize-winning artist Gillian Wearing OBE, making it the first statue in Parliament Square designed by a woman.

It is set to be a fantastic celebration, with guest speakers including poet Theresa Lola, Helen McCrory and Caroline Criado Perez.

No need to register – simply come along to Parliament Square at 11am on 24 April. Please arrive a little earlier to get a space, and bring your friends! Find more details on our Facebook event here.
