Bonny Downs Opens Nursery and Launches New Childcare Website

Newham charity Bonny Downs Community Association has launched a new website for local families, following the successful opening of its new Nursery.
The website brings together information on each of its childcare services in one place for the first time, and now enables families to book places for their children quickly and securely online.

The charity’s childcare services are rated good by Ofsted, and comprise:
A new Nursery open five days a week from 8am to 6pm for under-5s, with competitive fees and extended hours to support families around their busy work schedules
An After School Club open 3pm to 6pm in term-time offering high quality, low cost care for children between the ages of 4 ½ and 11, as well as collection from seven local primary schools
A Holiday Club offering an extended-hours childcare service for children between the ages of 4 ½ and 11 during the Easter, Summer and Half-Term breaks from 8am to 6pm
The charity runs each of its childcare services as a social enterprise, creating paid employment and volunteering opportunities for local residents while reinvesting surplus income into running other activities and support services for the community. Its After School Club has been running since 2012 and the Nursery opened its doors on 31 January 2022.

The website can be found at childcare.bonnydowns.org and has information on curriculum, timetables and fees as well as the relevant online booking forms.

Families are also able to stay connected with their child’s learning journey at the Nursery through an innovative app, eyLog, which provides regular news and photo updates, an instant messaging facility and the ability to track their child’s curriculum and development.

Andrea Teixeira, Nursery Manager at Bonny Downs Community Association, said:
“It’s been a great start at our new Nursery. We’re currently hosting 2-4 year olds, and we’re excited to announce that we are now ready to welcome under-2s from April onwards too.

“The kids are really enjoying it and it’s been a joy to watch them make new friendships together. Parents have also told us they appreciate our extended hours – we’re open from 8am to 6pm – so they can plan around their work and other commitments.”

Stacey Cordery, Service Director – Children, Youth and Families Provision at Bonny Downs Community Association, said:
“Following the successful opening of our nursery for Newham families, our new website now brings the information on each of our childcare services together in one place.

“At the same time, we’ve made it easier to book your child’s place using our quick and secure online forms. Whether you want to register for a Nursery space or book our After School or Holiday Clubs, you can now do it all from your laptop or phone, in under 5 minutes!”
